چکیده

A B S T R A C T Adenylate cyclase of human fat cell ghosts shows a biphasic response towards prostaglandin E2 with inhibition occurring at nanomolar concentrations of the hormone and stimulation at concentrations beyond 10-6 mol/liter. The expression of the inhibitory effect is critically dependent on GTP. Under the conditions employed (1 mmol/liter ATP, 5 mmol/liter Mg2+, 30°C) the inhibitory component of prostaglandin E2 became apparent at GTP concentrations exceeding 10-6 mol/liter. The prostaglandin E2-induced inhibition displayed characteristic features of prostaglandin action in intact fat cells with respect to the effective concentrations and degree of inhibition. It is concluded that prostaglandin E2 is capable of inducing antagonistic effects upon lipolysis via interaction with the membrane-bound adenylate cyclase.

Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) Exerts Biphasic Effects on Human Tendon Stem Cells

Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) has been reported to exert different effects on tissues at low and high levels. In the present study, cell culture experiments were performed to determine the potential biphasic effects of PGE2 on human tendon stem/progenitor cells (hTSCs). After treatment with PGE2, hTSC proliferation, stemness, and differentiation were analyzed. We found that high concentrations of PGE...

Effects of dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids on ovarian function and prostaglandin secretion in lactating dairy cows

As lactating cows in severe negative energy balance have poor reproductive performance, the effect of dietary fat supplementation (fish oil, soybean oil) on PGFM secretion, ovarian function and blood metabolites is investigated. In this experiment, the effects of dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids on plasma metabolites, ovarian function and prostaglandin secretion of 20 primiparous Holstein co...

P-19: The Protective Effect of Vitamin E against Damage Caused by Formaldehyde on The Sex Hormones Level and Sperm Parameters of Adult Male Rats

Background: Formaldehyde (FA) is a suspected reproductive toxicant, which may cause significant adverse effects on human reproductive system. Given to its widespread use in occupational setting, and more recently, in several industries related to construction and household products, everyone may be exposed to FA. This study was designed to determine the effect of FA and to investigate possible ...

Hormonal regulation of lipolysis and phosphorylase activity in human fat cells.

Prostaglandin E(1) (PGE(1)) at a concentration of 1 ng/ml antagonized theophylline, and norepinephrine induced release of glycerol and free fatty acids (FFA) in human fat cell preparations. Insulin at higher doses also inhibited theophylline-stimulated lipolysis. The N(6)-2-0'dibutyryl derivative of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (DCAMP) stimulated lipolysis. Prostaglandin E(1) did not signific...
